History
The Committee for Special Jewish Interests was established on 21 March 1933 to support Jews who fled from Germany. Chairman Abraham Asscher and secretary David Cohen would later become chairmen of the Jewish Council for Amsterdam. Furthermore, active members like G. van Tijn-Cohn and R.H. Eitje would later play an important part in the Jewish Council. Committee member L.E. Visser on the other hand refused to collaborate with the Germans
There is also continuity between the Committee and the Council where housing is concerned: The Committee was housed at Lijnbaansgracht 366 for a while, where later the main offices of the Jewish Council would be housed. The Committee was dissolved in March 1941 after which the Jewish Council took over the activities.
