Samenvatting van de inhoud van het archief:
In the 35 years of its existence the East and West Indian Educational Society took care of approx. 125 pupils (boys), sent mostly from the Dutch East Indies to accomplish their education in Holland. This small archive contains scarce material on the reception of colonial children in Holland during the second half of the 19th century. The society's activities were closely related to the training system for Dutch colonial administrators (located in Delft) and the professional qualities of many members provide important links with the political controversy at that time about the management of affairs in the archipelago.
